Daily Duties of a fiber optic technician

Optical network specialists Responsibilities: ATT Fiber installation and maintain cable lines that provide Internet and television services for public and private use. Most of these technicians have a university degree in communications or electrical engineering before work. Expert work may also require certification from the organization concerned. Physical skills and technical training in the field of electronics and computers are basic knowledge for opticians.

Some fiber optic cables are located outside buildings, this work involves climbing stairs, using other methods to reach high places and working in different climatic conditions. Fiber optic technicians can work on different buildings, from large multi-storey office buildings to small houses. Some daily tasks for these specialists are:

  • Installation, problem solving and maintenance of all fiber optic systems in companies, houses, schools and other organizations to guarantee their proper functioning.
  • Measurement of the signal strength of TV, telephone and internet connections to ensure sufficient performance.
  • Make sensors and perform checks to ensure that fiber systems are free from defects that can reduce performance.
  • Perform regular system checks to find and repair defects found during the scan.
  • Underground and underwater fiber optic cabins and cables.
  • Determination of solutions for possible problems and problems that prevent the optimal functioning of optical systems.
  • Build the right box for slices and prepare and maintain records, diagrams and diagrams related to the junction box.
